If you have not yet installed Apple's Java Mac OS X 2012-006 update, then you are still using a version of Apple Java 6 that includes the plug-in and the Java Preferences app. See Note for Users of Macs that Include Apple Java 6 Plug-in.
- Sudo rm -fr /Library/Application Support/Oracle/Java; Do not attempt to uninstall Java by removing the Java tools from /usr/bin. This directory is part of the system software and any changes will be reset by Apple the next time you perform an update of the OS.
- Yesterday, the company released 'Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 3,' which brought Apple's bundled support for Java SE 6 in Snow Leopard up to version 1.6.022, and 'Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 8.

Read these links about how to downgrade OS X. They work for any version of OS X, namely, you must do an Erase and Install, what some call a Clean Install. You will need one of these three: Project z (slin) mac os.
- You will need a backup of the older system that you can clone to the startup volume;
- a copy of the original installer for the older system that was downloaded from the App Store;
- or a bootable USB flash drive installer.
